Applying reverse engineering to spare parts, production machines, automotive components or even buildings is already a common part of the technological process in innovative manufacturing companies. It is gratifying that this list is expanding almost every day.

This time we are sharing a project of production drawings preparation of a watch case. At the customer’s request, we created STEP models of this case elements. To that end, the watch case and cover were scanned with our most accurate “Artec Space Spider” 3D scanner, which has 3D point accuracy up to 0.05 mm. Based on the scanned data, qualified engineers precisely restored 3D models of these objects in STEP format. This file format is very convenient and allows you to easily make the desired adjustments, improvements or use it for milling and other production methods.

Regarding the client’s wishes, we printed these 3D models with an SLA technology 3D printer. 3D printed parts of this technology are particularly smooth and precise. This allowed the customer to make a live inspection, evaluation of the model, and anticipation of possible changes.

Reverse engineering allows you to get the CAD model, make the desired changes in it, accurately model the operating surfaces and modernize the production process.
