3D scanning of large objects is a convenient way to quickly transfer real-life things into digital space. The advantage of 3D scanning is not only speed, but extremely high accuracy as well. 3D scanned models are suitable not only for simulations or documentation. Such 3D files are also perfect for accurate metrological measurements, as we can ensure accuracy of up to 0.009 mm with the help of our high-quality equipment!

At the customer’s request, we performed a metrological 3D scan of a fish farming tank with a diameter of 3 meters and a height of 1.5 meters. The purpose of this process was to perform metrological verification and figure out the deviation between a real product and a computer 3D model. There were three options scanned: empty, filled with water, and empty tank again. We used a 3D scanner capable of capturing environmental objects with an accuracy of up to 0.009 mm. As a result, we obtained extremely accurate diagrams that visually represent tank deviations.

In this way, the customer checked how the tanks he manufactured differed from the computer model. This allowed him to assess the quality and accuracy of the product. 3D scanning is not only fast but also a very accurate way to perform the desired metrological checks on large objects.
