A car is a complex system, each element of which is important and responsible for the operation of other elements and mechanisms. Accuracy in such a system is paramount. Especially when it comes to sports cars.
Our customers are inseparable from the non-stop improvements of cars and personalized solutions in motorsport. The most common problems arise when there is a need to accurately measure the geometry of complex parts. Manual measurement is very time-consuming. Also, there is a possibility of making mistakes. Inaccurate measurements later bring big financial costs, when the process needs to be repeated to find where the mistake was made. However, 3D scanning can solve all of these problems.
At the customer’s request, we performed a 3D scan of the engine part. The geometry of the engine is extremely complex and manual measurements would be very difficult to make For this reason, there was used 3D scanning. We performed the scanning with the “Artec Space Spider” 3D scanner, which captures environmental objects with an accuracy of up to 0.05 mm.
3D scanned data was used to create customized engine components. 3D scanning has accelerated this process and reduced potential errors. This method of measurement is extremely fast and reliable.
