The automotive industry is increasingly turning to 3D technology. The rapidly growing number of orders from this industry can prove this fact. 3D printing and especially 3D scanning open the possibility of creating copies of existing or new, customized parts for various vehicles.

This time we produced copies of rare car side mirror holders. This car model had been in production for a short time. It means that there had been produced only a few hundred holders. Nowadays, restoration masters face a shortage of these holders, which not only stops the work process but also increases its cost.

The original holders have been scanned with the “Artec Space Spider” 3D scanner with a precision of 0.05 mm. The resulting 3D model has been 3D printed of PA11 plastic with industrial SLS technology 3D printer “Prodways P1000”. Polyamide ensures the strength, impact resistance, and durability of the part.

This manufacturing method allows accelerating holder’s production to just a few working days and saves the customer production costs. Also, the customer will be able to use the 3D scanned model again if he ever faces the lack of holders again.
