Refrigerator handle recovery

We often write about complex projects that involve 3D scanning, 3D modeling, or 3D printing. However, small and simple projects can also be implemented quickly and efficiently with the help of 3D technologies. It is important to think about it in good time before you buy a new fridge when the fridge handle breaks.

This time we are sharing a very simple situation. Colleagues noticed a broken fridge handle in the kitchenette in the morning. Frequently you will think that it is difficult to find such a handle, it is no longer produced, and it is not convenient to open without a handle. Need to buy a new fridge? We say - certainly not.

We glued the broken handle to keep it in its original shape during 3D scanning. We've scanned the handle with an ultra-precise and fast "Artec Space Spider" 3D scanner capable of scanning at 0.05mm accuracy. We sculpted the scanned model with the company logo and did 3D printing. There was used a high-quality "Zortrax M200" 3D printer, which allowed us to continue to use the refrigerator comfortably already in the afternoon.

3D scanning and 3D printing are the perfect way to recover broken parts very quickly and easily.
