This time we were approached by a helicopter pilot carrying an expensive helicopter joystick mechanism. The collective decided to make a truly original gift – a helicopter joystick statuette for a retired colleague. The easiest and fastest way to do this is to take advantage of 3D scanning and printing.
Because the joystick is black, 3D scanning was a real challenge as black objects absorb the light emitted by the scanner, making it harder to work. However, thanks to our knowledgeable professionals, even the black joystick was scanned with 0.05 mm accuracy with an advanced “Artec Space Spider” 3D scanner.
SLA printing technology was selected for 3D printing. It provides the highest quality wall smoothness and accuracy. The product was printed from liquid resin.
The 3D printed statuette was post-processed, painted, stickers were affixed and stone base attached. We hope that this gift will remind the recipient the best memories of his work and give a sincere smile every time.
