3D scanning, 3D modeling, and 3D printing job were done by known artist Vaidas Ramoška’s order. Because of its height (1.5 m) and hallow structure, it was one of the kind 3D print. 3D scanning was performed on the molded small sized sculpture by industrial-grade handheld 3D scanner “Artec Eva”. The surface of the acquired statue was smoothed and small spots were adjusted.

For 3D printing statue was scaled up to 1.5-meter height and hallowed to have only 10 mm wall thickness. Due to technical FDM 3D printing difficulty, the statue was split into two parts. Such size statue was printed with one of the biggest large-size 3D printer in Europe using high-quality pure ABS polymer.

3D printed sculpture was post-processed with sanding to achieve smoother surface yet printing lines were kept in order to show that it was 3D printed. Also, sanding processes were performed to eliminate imperfections or faulty lines. Lighting system elements were implemented inside the statue. The system lights up automatically altogether with city street lights.

We are happy to be part of unique and one of the kind 3D printed statue in Baltic states. Such 3D scanning, 3D modeling, and 3D printing tasks were done by a short amount of time. We glad that 3D scanning of sculptures and 3D printing of sculptures finds a niche in contemporary art.
