A necessity for 3D scanning and 3D printing has appeared when the customer asked to make a replica of the candlestick. A candlestick, made from clay, was delivered by the customer for us to 3D scan it accurately using industrial grade “Artec Eva” 3D scanner. A full and clean 3D model was prepared for 3D printing by using a mirror effect to have a different side of the product to test design choice. The replica was printed on our large-scale 3D printer using generic yet high-quality PLA plastic which is very easy to print and have low cost compared to engineer grade materials. 3D scanning and mockups 3D printing is capable of recreating needed designs with mirror function. It is very useful tools for parts when they are too expensive, impossible to find because they are no longer manufactured or there’s no way to create a perfect copy with ordinary tools.
